We are now actively seeking to appoint a

Full time (negotiable) March 2024
Context
Christ Church is a small, lively evangelical church in Melbourne’s inner east. As part of an overall vision of gospel outreach, we see children and youth ministries as central in the future of our church.
We are passionate about this because:
· our church community already has young families;
· our property is next to Hawthorn West Primary School;
· there are many young families in the local area;
· we run programs for local families with children from birth to the end of primary school;
· we have good facilities for such ministries.
This new appointment
We are praying for a godly, engaging, responsible and gifted Christian to join our church community and our ministry staff team, in a full-time (negotiable) role, initially for two years.
We invite applications across a broad range from trainees to experienced fully qualified Children & Families Ministers, ordained or lay.
Remuneration commensurate with experience and qualifications, and according to Melbourne Anglican approved rates.
We seek someone who:
· loves Jesus, has a mature Christian faith,
· has good experience in church life that includes children’s ministry - preferably has been part of a church with a strong children’s ministry;
· loves children and youth and has a heart for helping them discover and grow in faith through the Bible and prayer, and play, music, craft and team activities;
· sees and serves young people in the context of their families, is comfortable engaging meaningfully with parents, affirming the primary role of parents in the Christian upbringing of their children;
· has strong and effective communication skills with people of all ages;
· is a proactive self-starter with initiative and energy;
· is a team player, to work with our Senior Minister and with part-time ministry staff and church-member volunteers in children and youth ministry;
· is aware of and responsible in promoting and adhering to appropriate child safety and welfare regulations and standards;
· is committed to their own ongoing training and professional development and promotes a culture of ongoing training and growth.
Key responsibilities include:
· joining, leading, and working to grow, the ministry teams for
after-school kids’ club ‘Shine’ (currently Thursdays)
Mainly Music (currently Monday and Tuesday mornings)
Sunday morning Kid’s Church
· developing and implementing strategies for ministry with current older-primary-age children, moving towards a youth group;
· engaging for outreach and pastoral care with young families as well as with grandparents who bring children to our church activities;
· playing an active and responsible part in the whole life of the church.
There is some flexibility in the role, depending on the experience and interests of the appointee.

The church is immediately next door to Hawthorn West Primary School, and it works well for us to run the after-school kids' club. We call it 'Shine'.
We’re currently running Shine on Thursday afternoons, but we’d like to expand to a second afternoon each week.
The hours of work are currently Thursday afternoons,
either three hours (3pm to 6pm) or four hours (2pm to 6pm).
